Fortnitemares 2026: Five Nights at Freddy’s Collab and Map Changes
The Spooky Season Begins
October is here. That means Fortnite’s annual Halloween celebration, Fortnitemares, is officially underway. Epic Games has a reputation for going big in October, but the 2026 update might just be their most ambitious one yet. Rumors had been swirling for months. Now, the community is finally getting what they wanted.
Freddy Fazbear Invades the Island
It’s the crossover fans have demanded for years. The iconic horror franchise Five Nights at Freddy’s has officially crossed over into the Fortnite universe. Players can now purchase legendary skins featuring Freddy Fazbear, Foxy, Chica, and Bonnie directly from the Item Shop. Each skin comes with unique built-in emotes and creepy alternative styles.
But they aren’t just cosmetic. Epic Games has integrated these animatronics into the actual gameplay. According to prominent data miners, a special Freddy Fazbear NPC wanders the new map locations. If you approach him, be ready for a fight. He boasts a massive health bar and drops a mythic weapon when defeated.
Eerie Map Changes and the New Pizzeria POI
The Fortnite map has undergone a massive transformation. Heavy fog now blankets the island, reducing visibility and making every match feel like a survival horror game. The most notable change is the arrival of a brand-new Point of Interest (POI) called Freddy’s Fright. This location replaces the old suburban plaza, turning it into a dilapidated, multi-story pizzeria.

Inside the pizzeria, players will find working security cameras, flickering lights, and secret vents. Entering this POI triggers a custom soundtrack that mimics the eerie silence of the original indie game. Step into the main party room, and you might even trigger a classic jump scare. It’s a brilliant touch that shows Epic’s attention to detail.
Unvaulted Weapons and New Spooky Gear
A Fortnitemares event wouldn’t be complete without a chaotic loot pool. The classic Pumpkin Launcher is back, firing explosive jack-o’-lanterns that destroy structures with ease. Witch Brooms have also returned to the game, giving players a quick way to escape tight situations or rotate across the map. But the real star of the show is the new Faz-Blaster.
This high-tech weapon fires concentrated bursts of energy. It doesn’t use traditional medium ammo. Instead, it operates on a recharge mechanic. If you fire too rapidly, the weapon overheats, leaving you vulnerable to enemy players or the hordes of monsters roaming the map.
Horde Rush Returns
For players who prefer cooperative play, the beloved Horde Rush mode is back. In this mode, teams of four must work together to survive waves of Cube Monsters while moving across the map. This year, the monsters have received a spooky visual upgrade, resembling broken animatronics. Surviving the final boss wave rewards players with exclusive cosmetics, including a Fazbear-themed loading screen and a custom weapon wrap.
Epic Games has confirmed that the Fortnitemares 2026 event will run until early November. That gives players plenty of time to complete their challenges, level up their battle pass, and experience the terror first-hand. Grab your squad, turn up your volume, and prepare for a fright.
