Fortnite Fortnitemares 2026: Dracula’s Castle & Classic Monsters Arrive
Spooky Season Invades the Island
Spooky season has officially taken over Fortnite. Epic Games just dropped its annual Fortnitemares update for 2026, and it’s shaping up to be one of the most nostalgic horror crossovers yet. This year, the developers are leaning heavily into classic cinema. The marquee addition? A massive, gothic monument right in the middle of the island: Dracula’s Castle.
Explore Dracula’s Castle POI
Players dropping into a match will immediately notice a dark, looming silhouette on the horizon. Dracula’s Castle is the new Point of Interest (POI), replacing the quiet ruins on the northern hills. It’s not just for show. The castle is a multi-level labyrinth filled with winding stone staircases, hidden dungeons, and coffins that actually harbor loot—or traps. It is huge, dark, and highly claustrophobic.
If you manage to navigate the halls and make it to the high-ceilinged throne room, you will face Dracula himself. He is a tough fight. The vampire boss teleports around the room, summons swarms of aggressive bats, and drains your health if he gets too close. Defeating him rewards players with a legendary weapon and a brand-new mythic item: the Vampiric Medallion.
New Vampire Powers and Weapons
The Vampiric Medallion is already changing how players approach late-game fights. Carrying it grants you siphon, meaning you regain health every time you damage an opponent. It also lets you temporarily turn into a swarm of bats. When activated, you move 30% faster and can fly vertically for five seconds. You cannot shoot while in bat form, but it is the ultimate tool for escaping a bad spot. Some competitive players are already calling for a nerf, but Epic seems content to let the chaotic fun play out.
The rest of the loot pool gets a spooky shake-up too. The Wood Stake Shotgun makes a return, sporting a slight damage buff against NPCs. Players can also find Holy Water Grenades. Throwing one creates a pool of blue light that slowly burns fiends while healing you and your teammates. Naturally, the iconic Pumpkin Launcher is back in rotation as well.

Classic Horror Icons in the Item Shop
But what is Fortnitemares without skins? Epic Games went all out with licensing this year, focusing on legendary cinematic monsters and classic slashers. In the shop, players can find a highly detailed Dracula outfit that slowly transforms as you rack up eliminations. But the real surprises are the slasher collaborations.
Leatherface from the classic Texas Chain Saw Massacre makes his long-awaited debut, complete with a chainsaw harvesting tool that revs when swung. Pinhead from Hellraiser is also arriving later this week. Epic did not skimp on the details; each of these classic characters comes with custom emotes and back blings that pay homage to their original films.
Horde Rush Returns with a Twist
For players who prefer playing with friends, the fan-favorite Horde Rush mode is back. In this co-op mode, teams of four fight off relentless waves of Cube Monsters while moving across the map. This year, the finale has a twist. Instead of the usual Caretaker boss, players must defeat a towering, electrified version of Frankenstein’s monster in an arena filled with lightning hazards.
Completing these event-specific challenges unlocks free cosmetics. Over the next three weeks, players can earn the ‘Grave Bound’ glider, a bat-themed weapon wrap, and a glowing jack-o’-lantern back bling just by playing the game. Early community feedback is glowing, with many praising the moody, orchestral music that plays inside the castle.
The Fortnitemares 2026 event is live now on all platforms, including PC, consoles, and mobile. The spooky festivities are scheduled to run until November 3rd, giving players plenty of time to conquer the castle and claim their rewards.
