Fortnitemares 2026: Disney Villains and Maleficent Boss Fight Land
Epic Games has officially kicked off its annual Halloween event, Fortnitemares 2026, and this year’s update might be the most ambitious one yet. For the first time in the battle royale’s history, Disney’s most iconic antagonists are taking over the island. Players can expect a dark fantasy makeover, complete with legendary magic items and some highly anticipated boss encounters.
This crossover marks a significant step in the ongoing partnership between Epic Games and Disney. After Disney invested $1.5 billion in Epic, fans knew major collaborations were coming. While we have seen Marvel and Star Wars characters dominate previous seasons, Fortnitemares 2026 shines a spotlight on classic animated villains.
The Mistress of All Evil Arrives
The centerpiece of this year’s spooky update is Maleficent. Rumors had been swirling for weeks about her inclusion, and Epic has finally delivered. Her presence isn’t just cosmetic. According to early player reports and datamined files, Maleficent is set to appear as a formidable in-game boss.
She spawns in a newly transformed, thorn-covered castle that has replaced a portion of the northern map. Fighting her is no easy task. Players who dare to challenge her will face waves of shadow creatures before taking on the fairy herself. If you manage to defeat her, she drops a brand-new Mythic weapon: Maleficent’s Scepter.
This Mythic item allows players to cast green dragon fire, summon protective thorny barriers, and glide short distances using dark wings. It completely changes how late-game fights play out, offering both high offensive power and unique movement options.
More Villains Join the Fray
Maleficent is not alone in her invasion. Epic has rolled out a star-studded lineup of Disney Villains in the Item Shop and as NPC encounters across the island.

- Captain Hook: The pirate captain brings his signature rapier and a flintlock pistol. Rumor has it he can be found patrolling the waterways near the southern docks.
- Cruella de Vil: Looking as stylish and menacing as ever, Cruella comes with a custom car wrap and a retro-style pickaxe.
- Hades: Making a return with a distinct Disney animated look, the ruler of the Underworld offers players a chance to wield Greek-inspired fire magic.
Each of these characters brings their own set of challenges and quests. Completing these limited-time challenges rewards players with exclusive Halloween-themed cosmetics, including back blings, gliders, and loading screens.
Dark Magic Mythics and Gameplay Changes
Beyond the Disney crossovers, Fortnitemares 2026 introduces several gameplay tweaks to keep the matches tense and chaotic. The storm has taken on a purple, eerie glow, and zombies once again roam the map, spawning from shattered obelisks.
A new consumable item, the Poison Apple, can be found scattered under trees. Consuming it gives a temporary shield boost but slowly drains a small amount of health over ten seconds. It is a risky trade-off that fits the villainous theme perfectly.
Epic has also unvaulted some fan-favorite Halloween items. The Pumpkin Launcher is back, alongside Witch Brooms, which offer quick traversal across the map.
“We wanted to combine the nostalgia of classic Disney with the high-stakes action of Fortnite,” an Epic Games representative shared in a brief press release. “This is just the beginning of what we have planned for this partnership.”
How Long Does Fortnitemares Last?
The event is scheduled to run through the first week of November. This gives players plenty of time to grind the event pass, purchase their favorite villain skins, and try their luck against Maleficent.
Whether you are a casual player looking to cause some mischief with dark magic or a competitive player trying to master the new Mythic items, Fortnitemares 2026 has something for everyone. Drop in, grab some loot, and watch out for the thorns.
