Fortnite Launches Permanent Disney Oasis Metaverse Hub
A New Era for Fortnite
Fortnite isn’t just a battle royale game anymore. It hasn’t been for a long time. But today, the transition became permanent. Epic Games has officially launched “Disney Oasis,” a massive, persistent virtual space built directly inside the game. The rollout coincides with Fortnitemares 2026, giving the new digital theme park a distinctly spooky vibe for its grand opening.
This isn’t a typical limited-time crossover. Oasis is here to stay. It represents the first major milestone of the massive $1.5 billion partnership Disney and Epic Games announced back in early 2024. Now, players can walk, build, and play inside dedicated Marvel and Pixar worlds whenever they want. It is a big bet on the future of virtual spaces, and it is happening right inside the platform millions already visit every day.
Exploring the Disney Oasis
So, what exactly is inside? The Oasis acts as a central hub. From there, players can step through portals to enter different, highly detailed zones. At launch, the two biggest anchors are dedicated to Marvel and Pixar. Each zone offers a mix of casual exploration, social spaces, and interactive gameplay.
The Marvel zone lets players explore an atmospheric version of Doctor Doom’s castle, which has been overrun by mysterious energy rifts. You can team up with friends to solve environmental puzzles, test out iconic superhero gear, or just hang out in a virtual S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier that serves as a social lounge. Over in the Pixar district, things are a bit more whimsical. Players can visit a stylized, Halloween-themed version of the Monstropolis plaza from Monsters, Inc., complete with interactive scream canisters that players can fill by performing emotes. There is also a racing mini-game inspired by Cars, set on a spooky, nighttime desert track.
Epic Games designed the hub to feel alive. The developer promised that the environment will react to real-world seasons and in-game events. While it is starting with a spooky theme for October, the Oasis will shift into a winter wonderland by December.

Fortnitemares 2026 Takes Center Stage
Launching a permanent hub is a big deal, but tying it to Fortnitemares makes it an event. Epic Games has always used its annual Halloween celebration to push the boundaries of what the game can do. This year is no different. The Disney Oasis is currently crawling with creepy decorations, thick fog, and special seasonal challenges.
Players can earn exclusive cosmetics by completing quests across the Disney and Pixar zones. For instance, you can unlock a Jack Skellington-inspired glider or a special Pixar-themed back bling. Several classic Disney villains have also made appearances as in-game bosses. Players can squad up to fight a monstrously oversized version of Oogie Boogie in a special limited-time encounter hidden deep within the Oasis. The fights are tough, but the rewards are worth it.
Crucially, the items you unlock or buy in the Oasis carry over to the rest of Fortnite. You can wear your new Marvel gear in the standard battle royale mode or use it in Lego Fortnite.
The Big Picture for Epic and Disney
This launch is a proof of concept for Disney’s long-term digital strategy. When Disney took a stake in Epic Games, the goal was to build a persistent, open, and interoperable ecosystem. They wanted a place where consumers could play, watch, and shop. Disney Oasis is the first real look at that vision.
For Epic Games, it is a way to keep players hooked. By turning Fortnite into a platform that hosts other massive entertainment brands permanently, Epic is cementing its lead over competitors. It is no longer just about who survives the storm. It is about where people choose to hang out online. With Pixar, Marvel, and core Disney properties now living under one digital roof, that place will likely be Fortnite for a long time to come.
