Fortnitemares 2026 Adds Disney Villains and First-Person Mode
The spooky season has officially arrived on the Island, and Epic Games is not holding back. Fortnitemares 2026 has launched, bringing a massive wave of content that completely changes how the battle royale looks and plays. This year, the spotlight shines on a massive new map expansion dedicated to classic Disney Villains, alongside the highly anticipated release of permanent first-person matchmaking queues.
Rumors about both additions have swirled in the community for months. Now that the update is live, players are diving into a transformed island that feels both nostalgic and experimental. It is a major milestone for Epic’s ongoing partnership with Disney, giving fans a direct taste of what the entertainment giant’s massive investment in Epic is actually going to look like.
Entering the Disney Villains’ Lair
The centerpiece of the map update is a sprawling new region dubbed the Cursed Dominion. Located on the northern coast of the island, this dark, fog-shrouded biome houses three distinct points of interest, each ruled by an iconic Disney antagonist. Players can explore the towering, thorn-choked spires of Maleficent’s Castle, navigate the murky, trap-filled waters of Captain Hook’s Lagoon, or scavenge through the decaying, gothic halls of Cruella’s Manor.
These aren’t just empty landmarks. Each location features aggressive NPC bosses guarding powerful Mythic items. Defeating Maleficent, for example, rewards players with her dragon-fire staff, which can scorch structures and launch fiery projectiles. Hook drops a rapier that allows for high-mobility dash attacks. It adds a challenging PvE element to the standard battle royale chaos, forcing players to weigh the risks of tackling a boss while keeping an eye out for opportunistic rivals.
First-Person Mode Finally Arrives
While the Disney crossover brings the cinematic spectacle, the addition of permanent first-person matchmaking queues is the update’s most significant gameplay shift. Epic has experimented with first-person perspectives in limited-time events and creative tools before, but this is the first time players can queue up for full matches entirely in this perspective.

The new mode is available for both standard Battle Royale and Zero Build. It completely rewrites the rules of engagement. Without the ability to peek around corners using a third-person camera, players must rely heavily on sound cues and careful positioning. Gunfights feel tighter, more frantic, and far more tactical.
“It feels like an entirely different game,” says popular Fortnite streamer Tyler “Ninja” Blevins during a morning broadcast. “You can’t just hide behind a brick wall and watch someone walk up on you anymore. You have to put your face out there. It makes Zero Build incredibly intense.”
Classic Tricks and New Treats
Of course, it wouldn’t be Fortnitemares without the return of some holiday classics. The Wood Stake Shotgun and the Pumpkin Launcher are back in the loot pool, alongside a brand-new consumable: Candy Corn Shield Slices. These sweet treats offer quick, incremental shield boosts but leave a glowing trail behind the player for a few seconds.
The item shop is also getting a heavy infusion of spooky cosmetics. Alongside the Disney Villains themselves—who are purchasable as playable skins—players can unlock themed pickaxes, gliders, and emotes. Epic has also teased a mid-season event called “The Midnight Masquerade,” which promises to introduce even more supernatural elements as Halloween approaches.
Epic Games released a brief statement alongside the patch notes, highlighting their vision for this year’s seasonal event. “We wanted to push the boundaries of what Fortnitemares can be,” the developers wrote. “By combining the legendary storytelling of Disney’s most iconic villains with a deeply requested gameplay feature like first-person matchmaking, we are offering something fresh for both casual fans and competitive players alike.”
The update is live now across all platforms, including PC, consoles, and cloud gaming services. Players can hop in immediately to experience the spooky transformation, though queue times for the new first-person playlists are currently seeing high demand.
