Fortnite Downtime: When Will Servers Be Back for Fortnitemares 2026?

Fortnite players, get ready to wait. Epic Games is about to take the battle royale offline to deploy one of its biggest updates of the year. Fortnitemares 2026 is finally here, bringing spooky vibes, fresh skins, and creepy gameplay shifts. But before you can hunt down monsters or trick-or-treat across the island, you’ll have to deal with the inevitable server downtime.

When Do the Fortnite Servers Go Offline?

Epic’s scheduled the downtime to start early in the morning. Matchmaking will be disabled starting at 3:30 AM Eastern Time (ET) on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. The actual server maintenance begins shortly after, at 4:00 AM ET. If you’re playing in other regions, here is how those times translate:

  • US West Coast: 1:00 AM PT
  • US East Coast: 4:00 AM ET
  • United Kingdom: 9:00 AM BST
  • Europe: 10:00 AM CEST
  • Australia: 7:00 PM AEST

Don’t try to squeeze in one last match right before the clock strikes. Epic always boots players out of active lobbies thirty minutes before the official maintenance window begins. If you’re mid-game, you’ll be abruptly disconnected.

When Will Fortnite Servers Be Back Online?

We’re expecting the servers to remain offline for approximately three to four hours. This is standard for major seasonal transitions. If everything runs smoothly, the game should be playable again around 7:00 AM or 8:00 AM ET. However, massive updates often hit unexpected snags. Sometimes Epic needs extra time to stabilize the servers, which can push the launch back by an hour or two.

To stay updated, keep an eye on the official @FortniteStatus account on X (formerly Twitter). They post live updates the moment the downtime begins, along with an announcement when the servers are officially open to the public again.

What is Coming in Fortnitemares 2026?

Epic’s keeping its cards close to its chest, but leaks and teasers point to some massive additions. Rumors suggest a new crossover with iconic horror franchises, possibly bringing classic cinema monsters and modern slashers to the Item Shop. We’re also expecting the return of Horde Rush, the fan-favorite PvE mode where players team up to fight off waves of Cube Monsters in fast-paced action.

Get Know Instant Access

The map itself is getting a haunting makeover. Expect thick fog to roll into key areas of the island. Some existing points of interest will likely transform into spooky, dilapidated ruins. Loot pools are also getting a shake-up. The classic Wood Stake Shotgun and the iconic Pumpkin Launcher are rumored to return, alongside Witch Brooms for fast, airborne escapes.

Will There Be a Halloween Mini-Pass?

In recent years, Epic has favored mini-event passes to keep players engaged during major seasonal events. Fortnitemares 2026 is rumored to feature its own track of rewards. Players can expect both free and premium tiers, allowing them to unlock themed wraps, emotes, and potentially an exclusive character skin by completing spooky in-game quests.

How to Prepare Your Game for the Update

Once the servers are back online, don’t expect to jump straight into a match. Major updates trigger a massive rush of players. This surge usually leads to long login queues. You might see a screen telling you that you have to wait ten or fifteen minutes just to get past the main menu. Be patient.

To save time, make sure your console or PC is set to auto-update. The patch size for major seasonal updates is usually substantial, often ranging from 10GB to 15GB depending on your platform. Downloading the file while the servers are still down ensures you are ready to queue the second Epic flips the switch. If your update gets stuck, a quick restart of your launcher or system usually forces the download to resume.

Grab your squad, get your spooky locker loadouts ready, and prepare for a very wild morning on the island. The wait is almost over.
