Disney Villains Invade Fortnite in Massive Fortnitemares 2026
Fortnitemares is back. This time, it is bringing some of classic animation’s most famous bad guys along for the ride. Epic Games just launched its annual Halloween event, but this year is different. For the first time, players are getting a massive look at Disney’s upcoming persistent universe right inside Fortnite. This is not just a standard shop update. It is a full-scale integration featuring playable Disney Villains and spooky, custom-made worlds built in the Unreal Editor for Fortnite.
The Villains Take Over the Island
Players can now drop into the battle royale map as some of the most iconic antagonists in cinema history. The initial lineup includes Maleficent, Captain Hook, and Hades. Cruella de Vil is also making her debut, complete with a custom glider modeled after her roaring black-and-red hot rod. These characters are highly detailed. They come with unique reactive back blings, pickaxes, and emotes that match their dark personalities. If you ever wanted to win a battle royale crown as the Ruler of the Underworld, now is your chance.
Spooky UEFN Horror Realms
The crossover goes far beyond cosmetic skins. Epic Games worked with top community creators and internal teams to build several custom horror realms using UEFN. You can access these maps directly from the main menu. They play less like shooter lobbies and more like atmospheric survival-horror games. Here is what players can expect in the new realms:

- The Forbidden Mountain: Players must navigate a dark, gothic castle while trying to escape a giant, AI-controlled shadow of Maleficent’s dragon form.
- Neverland Shipwreck: A foggy, tense survival map set on a rotting pirate ship where Captain Hook hunts players from the shadows.
- Underworld Escape: A fast-paced maze filled with traps, lost souls, and fiery challenges overseen by Hades.
A Glimpse of the $1.5 Billion Partnership
This event is the first major milestone of the massive partnership between Disney and Epic Games. Announced in early 2024, the deal saw Disney invest $1.5 billion into Epic. The goal was to create a brand-new, persistent entertainment universe linked directly to Fortnite. While fans have seen teasers, Fortnitemares 2026 is the first real proof of how deep this connection will run. It shows that Disney is willing to let its classic characters play in Fortnite’s chaotic sandbox.
Saxs Persson, Epic Games’ Executive Vice President of the Fortnite Ecosystem, shared his excitement about the launch. ‘We wanted to build experiences that felt genuinely spooky while staying true to the incredible art style of these classic Disney characters,’ Persson said. ‘Using UEFN allowed us to push the boundaries of what is possible. We are giving independent creators the same tools we used to build these realms. It is incredibly exciting.’
Weapons, Loot, and Event Dates
Classic Halloween items are also returning for the season. Players can once again hunt down the Wood Stake Shotgun and the Pumpkin Launcher. Witch Brooms are back too, allowing for quick escapes during intense firefights. Epic has also added a series of free Fortnitemares challenges. Completing these quests will unlock spooky cosmetic rewards, including a special Disney-themed loading screen and weapon wraps. The Fortnitemares 2026 event runs through November 3, giving players plenty of time to explore the dark side of Disney.
