Target and Epic Games Team Up for Exclusive Fortnite Holiday Promo
A Festive Battle Royale in the Toy Aisle
The holidays are coming early for Fortnite fans. Epic Games has a new plan to get players into physical stores this winter. They are teaming up with retail giant Target. The partnership introduces an exclusive holiday promotion that bridges the gap between physical retail and digital gaming. For collectors, it is shaping up to be the biggest event of the season.
Starting in mid-November 2026, anyone who purchases a physical Fortnite V-Bucks gift card at Target will get a rare bonus. This is not just a standard spray or an emote. Epic is offering a highly coveted, exclusive Marvel-themed in-game cosmetic outfit. Sources close to the promotion suggest the freebie is a special “Glacial Iron Man” skin, which features winter-themed armor and custom back bling.
The Disney Connection Runs Deep
Why Target, and why Marvel? The move makes perfect sense when you look at the bigger picture. Back in early 2024, Disney invested a staggering $1.5 billion in Epic Games. Since then, the entertainment giant has been slowly weaving its biggest franchises—including Star Wars, Pixar, and Marvel—directly into the fabric of Fortnite. This late 2026 promotion is a physical extension of that massive partnership.
Epic has done this before, and they know it works. Older players likely remember the absolute chaos surrounding the “Merry Mint Axe” back in 2019. That promotion, done alongside GameStop, saw stores flooded with eager fans. Cards sold out within hours. Some were resold online for hundreds of dollars. By making Target the exclusive home for this new holiday run, Epic hopes to capture that same lightning in a bottle, but with a much wider retail reach.

How the Promotion Works
Participating in the event is straightforward, but shoppers will need to act fast. Here is how the promotion is set to roll out across Target locations:
- The offer applies to any physical Fortnite gift card worth $25 or more purchased at a Target store or online.
- Upon checkout, a unique redemption code will print directly onto the paper receipt. For online orders, the code will be delivered via email.
- Players can redeem the code on the official Fortnite website to instantly unlock the Glacial Iron Man cosmetic.
A High-Value Collector’s Item
Because this Marvel skin is tied directly to a physical store purchase, it is expected to become an instant collector’s item. Epic Games reportedly has no plans to sell the Glacial Iron Man outfit in the in-game Item Shop. That means once the promotion ends in early January 2027, the skin will be gone for good.
This scarcity is already fueling discussions on social media. In past promotions, scalpers regularly bought up cheap gift cards just to flip the promotional codes on eBay. Some codes fetched three or four times their retail value. Epic and Target are reportedly putting purchase limits on physical cards to keep things fair, though enforcement at the cash register is always a challenge.
“Retail collaborations like this are a brilliant way to drive foot traffic,” says Michael Carter, a retail market analyst who tracks video game merchandising. “They pull younger shoppers and parents into physical stores during the most competitive shopping window of the year. It gives Target a massive edge over digital-only storefronts.”
For parents looking for stocking stuffers, it is an easy win. You get the V-Bucks for a holiday gift, and your kid gets a rare Marvel skin that their friends cannot buy online. Just make sure to keep a close eye on that receipt—losing the printed code means losing the skin entirely.
