Fortnite Chapter 7 to Merge Battle Passes Into Unified Mega Pass
A Single Progression Path for the Whole Metaverse
Fortnite is changing how players unlock rewards. Epic Games has announced a massive overhaul to its monetization system, introducing a unified subscription called the Mega Pass. Scheduled to launch alongside Chapter 7, this new progression system will merge the separate tracks for Battle Royale, LEGO Fortnite, and Fortnite Festival into a single tier.
For years, keeping up with Fortnite meant juggling multiple progress bars. If you wanted the latest skins, you bought the Battle Royale pass. If you loved digital concerts, you bought the Festival pass. If you preferred survival crafting, the LEGO pass demanded your V-Bucks. It was expensive, complicated, and increasingly tedious for players who enjoy everything the platform has to offer.
Epic is finally putting an end to that fragmentation. The Mega Pass aims to simplify the entire experience, treating the game’s various modes as a cohesive ecosystem rather than separate products.
How the Mega Pass Works
Starting next season, players will no longer need to buy separate passes for different game modes. A single purchase of the Mega Pass will unlock the premium reward tracks across all three major experiences.
Crucially, progression is also being consolidated. No matter which mode you play, you will earn the same XP. If you spend your evening building a medieval castle in LEGO Fortnite, those hours will directly unlock cosmetics for Battle Royale and new tracks for Fortnite Festival. No more forcing yourself to play modes you dislike just to finish a specific pass before the season ends.
“Our ecosystem grew faster than our reward systems,” says Thomas Henderson, a lead systems designer at Epic Games. “Players felt pulled in too many directions, worrying about which pass they were leveling up. The Mega Pass is our way of saying: play whatever you want, and we will reward you for it anyway.”

Pricing and Value Shift
This consolidation comes with a pricing adjustment. The Mega Pass will retail for 1,200 V-Bucks. While this is a slight bump from the traditional 950 V-Bucks Battle Royale pass, it represents a massive discount for players who previously bought multiple passes each season, which could easily total over 3,000 V-Bucks.
For active subscribers, the news gets even better. Epic confirmed that the Mega Pass will be included in the monthly Fortnite Crew subscription at no additional cost. This move significantly increases the value of the monthly membership, making it the most cost-effective way to experience the game’s premium content.
What Happens to Existing V-Bucks?
Players who have already hoarded V-Bucks or have partial progression in current individual passes do not need to worry. Epic plans to convert active individual passes to the new system automatically when Chapter 7 goes live. Any duplicate rewards or overlapping purchases will be compensated with V-Bucks directly credited to player accounts.
Behind Epic’s Strategic Shift
This move is about more than just convenience for players. It is a calculated business decision. Epic Games has spent the last few years transforming Fortnite from a standard battle royale shooter into a massive, multi-genre gaming hub. By tying the progression of these diverse modes together, Epic is encouraging players to cross over.
Someone who only plays Battle Royale might now wander into Fortnite Festival because they unlocked a cool guitar skin in their Mega Pass. A LEGO fan might try out a shooting match to show off a newly earned character. It keeps players inside the Fortnite ecosystem longer.
Some fans have expressed concern that combining the passes could lead to a longer, more grueling grind to reach the final rewards. Epic, however, insists this is not the case. The developer claims that the total XP required to complete the Mega Pass is being balanced to ensure that casual players can still reach level 100 by playing just a few hours a week in any mode they choose.
Ultimately, the Mega Pass represents the next logical step for a game that has outgrown its own genre. It treats Fortnite as a single platform, making the virtual world feel more connected than ever before.
