Epic Games Debuts ‘Disney Vault’ Tab in Fortnite Item Shop
Fortnite has a brand-new way to tempt your wallet. Epic Games just rolled out the “Disney Vault” tab in the battle royale’s in-game Item Shop. This dedicated section marks a major shift in how rare Marvel, Star Wars, and Pixar cosmetics return to the game, establishing a permanent home for some of the entertainment giant’s most popular digital outfits.
For years, tracking down a specific crossover skin was a frustrating guessing game. Some items vanished from the store for months, sometimes even years, leaving newer players empty-handed. The Disney Vault aims to fix that. According to Epic, the tab will feature a regularly rotating selection of legacy Disney-owned cosmetics. If you missed out on a specific Marvel hero or Pixar character the first time around, you will no longer have to wait indefinitely for a random shop update.
A Predictable Rotation for Rare Skins
This move is a direct consequence of Disney’s massive $1.5 billion investment in Epic Games earlier this year. While the two companies are busy building a massive, persistent virtual universe connected to Fortnite, the Disney Vault is a highly visible, immediate result of their partnership. It is a smart play. Disney gets to keep its intellectual properties front and center, while Epic secures a highly anticipated, steady stream of V-Bucks spending.
The name itself is a clever nod to Disney’s history. For decades, the house of mouse put its classic animated movies “in the vault,” restricting physical home video sales to generate artificial scarcity. Every few years, a movie would emerge for a limited time before going back into hiding. Fortnite’s digital version flips this concept on its head. Instead of locking things away, Epic is using the vault to bring rare virtual goods back into circulation on a predictable schedule.

What Is Inside the Vault?
So, what can players actually buy right now? The initial launch features a mix of familiar faces and highly sought-after classics. Marvel cosmetics, including older character packs that have been missing from the store rotation for hundreds of days, are heavily featured. Alongside the superhero lineup, Pixar items—such as gear and outfits from The Incredibles—are getting prominent placement. Star Wars characters and classic Disney animated icons are also slated to cycle through the shop regularly.
Epic has not specified the exact timing for each rotation, but the shop timers suggest a weekly or bi-weekly refresh for the vault tab. This gives players a clear window to grab what they want without the constant fear of missing out on a one-day flash sale.
How the Community Is Reacting
While the overall response from players has been positive, the update has stirred up some debate among collectors. In Fortnite, digital rarity carries a lot of social status. Some veteran players pride themselves on owning “OG” skins that have not been sold in years. Bringing these items back on a permanent loop inevitably dilutes that exclusivity.
For the vast majority of the player base, however, the change is a welcome relief. It removes the stress of checking the shop every single night at reset time. It also democratizes access to fan-favorite characters for kids and newer players who missed the older seasons.
With Epic constantly expanding its ecosystem to include LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing, and Fortnite Festival, the demand for cross-compatible cosmetics is at an all-time high. Because Disney has such a massive catalog of characters, this vault is unlikely to run out of treasures anytime soon. If you have been saving up V-Bucks for a rainy day, that day might have just arrived.
