Fortnite Reveals New Disney Villains Skins for Fortnitemares
A Dark Crossover on the Horizon
Epic Games is gearing up for its annual spooky season celebration. This year, the developer is bringing some of the most iconic animated antagonists to the battle royale. Fortnitemares is always a major event for Fortnite players, but the upcoming iteration is getting a massive injection of Disney magic. Or rather, Disney malice.
The news broke during a recent reveal showing off three legendary Disney Villains: Maleficent, Captain Hook, and Cruella de Vil. They are not just static cosmetics either. These skins come packed with unique, interactive features that could change how players express themselves on the battlefield.
Mid-Match Transformations via Emotes
What sets these skins apart from standard Fortnite cosmetics is the introduction of dynamic transition emotes. Instead of just dancing or waving, these emotes allow players to alter their character’s appearance on the fly during a match.
Take Maleficent, for example. Her built-in emote lets her surround herself in green flames, temporarily shifting her look to hint at her fearsome dragon form. Captain Hook’s emote features a comedic yet threatening encounter with his classic nemesis, the ticking crocodile, altering his stance and expression. Cruella de Vil can transition between her sleek, high-fashion coat and a more wild, crazed look, complete with floating fashion sketches and dramatic lighting.
These reactive elements add a whole new layer of customization. Players do not have to stick to just one style. They can trigger these transformations after a successful elimination or while waiting in the lobby. Each villain also comes with matching gear. Maleficent’s staff acts as her pickaxe, glowing with that same eerie green energy. Captain Hook, naturally, uses a hanger-sword style tool, and Cruella’s harvesting tool is a high-fashion cane.
Part of a Much Bigger Partnership
This crossover does not come out of nowhere. Earlier, Disney invested a staggering $1.5 billion into Epic Games. The goal was clear: build a persistent, expansive universe inside Fortnite that bridges Disney’s massive catalog of stories with Epic’s live-service juggernaut.
We have already seen Marvel, Star Wars, and classic Disney heroes make their way to the island. However, focusing solely on the bad guys is a fresh direction for a Halloween-themed event. By bringing in villains who have terrorized generations of moviegoers, Epic is tapping into deep nostalgia.
It is a smart play. Fortnite has always thrived on pop-culture mashups, but these high-fidelity Disney models look remarkably faithful to their animated counterparts while still fitting perfectly into Fortnite’s signature art style.
Release Date and Store Details
While Epic Games has not announced an exact price point for the individual bundles, history gives us a good idea of what to expect. Typically, high-tier crossover skins like these go for around 1,500 to 2,000 V-Bucks each. Complete bundles with harvesting tools, back blings, and gliders will likely cost a bit more but offer a discount compared to buying everything separately.
The skins are scheduled to hit the Fortnite Item Shop just in time for the Fortnitemares festivities. Players can expect them to remain in rotation throughout the event, giving everyone ample opportunity to grab their favorite baddie.
Whether you want to hunt down opponents as the mistress of all evil or terrorize the map as a pirate captain, this update offers something unique. Epic continues to prove that its platform is more than just a shooter. It is a digital toy box where any character can meet, fight, and now, transform.
