Fortnite Servers Going Offline for Major Patch v37.10

Fortnite Down for Maintenance: Patch v37.10 Arrival

Fortnite players will need to find another way to spend their Monday morning. Epic Games has officially confirmed that the game’s servers are going offline on September 30 to prepare for the v37.10 update. It is not just a routine restart. Epic has warned players to expect an extended period of downtime before they can jump back into the action.

As with all major updates, you won’t be able to queue up for a match right until the last second. The developers plan to disable matchmaking shortly before the servers officially shut down. Here is everything you need to know about the schedule, the expected downtime, and what this update might bring to the island.

The Exact Timing for the September 30 Downtime

According to the official Fortnite Status account, the server maintenance is scheduled to begin at 4:00 AM ET (1:00 AM PT / 9:00 AM BST) on Monday, September 30. If you are in the middle of a tense battle royale match when the clock strikes four, you will be abruptly disconnected. To prevent this, Epic will disable matchmaking starting at 3:30 AM ET.

Make sure you finish up your quests and log out before the matchmaking gate closes. Trying to sneak into a game at 3:29 AM will likely leave you disappointed. Once the servers go dark, players will be booted to the main menu, and the game will prompt you to download the new patch file.

Why Is This Downtime Longer Than Usual?

Usually, standard Fortnite updates take about two hours. Players are accustomed to a quick break before jumping right back in. But this time, Epic has signaled that things will take a bit longer. Major version jumps like v37.10 require deep backend database adjustments, server migrations, and asset deployments that take time to stabilize.

While Epic has not specified an exact end time, historical patterns for “extended” maintenance suggest a window of four to five hours. This means the game might not be playable again until 8:00 AM ET or even 9:00 AM ET. If any unexpected technical hitches pop up during the deployment, that window could stretch even further into the afternoon.

What to Expect from Patch v37.10

Epic Games likes to keep its patch notes under wraps until the last possible moment. However, community dataminers have already given us plenty of clues about what is packed inside this hefty update. The v37.10 patch is highly anticipated because of its timing. With October just around the corner, this update will lay the groundwork for the annual Halloween festivities.

Here is what players are keeping an eye out for:

  • Preliminary files and assets for the upcoming Fortnitemares event.
  • Crucial weapon balance passes, including tweaks to recently introduced items.
  • New collaborative cosmetics and skins hidden in the decrypted files.
  • Bug fixes addressing UI glitches and occasional matchmaking errors.

Because of the sheer volume of new assets, the update file size is expected to be larger than your average weekly patch. If you are playing on a console or a PC with a slower connection, it is a good idea to turn on automatic updates so your system can start downloading the files the moment they hit the distribution servers.

How to Monitor Server Status

If you want to be the first one back on the battle bus, you will need to keep a close eye on Epic’s status feeds. The easiest way to track the progress is through the official @FortniteStatus account on X (formerly Twitter). Epic regularly posts updates there when the maintenance begins, when the patch goes live for download, and when the servers are officially open to the public again.

Alternatively, you can visit the public Epic Games Status webpage. This site provides a live, green-light breakdown of all Epic services, including the Epic Games Store, voice chat, matchmaking, and login servers. Until those bars turn from yellow or red back to green, you won’t be able to get past the loading screen.

Grab a hot drink, queue up the download, and get ready for a fresh experience once the island comes back online.
