Fortnitemares 2026 Leaks: Skins, Map Changes & Live Event Details
Spooky Season is Coming to the Island
October is just around the corner. That means Fortnite players are gearing up for the biggest event of the autumn. Fortnitemares is an absolute staple. Every year, Epic Games turns its colorful battle royale into a haunted playground. But if the latest leaks are anything to go by, Fortnitemares 2026 is going to push things much further than previous years. We’re looking at massive map transformations, iconic horror movie collaborations, and a live finale that might just break the island.
Epic Games has kept quiet, but data miners have been incredibly busy. Here’s everything we know so far about the upcoming spooky season.
Leaked Halloween Skins and Cosmetics
Let’s talk about the cosmetics first. That’s always the biggest draw. Data miners have been digging through the game files since the last major patch, and they’ve found some absolute gold. Classic horror is taking center stage this year.
- Pennywise (IT): According to prominent leakers like ShiinaBR, we’re finally getting a proper Stephen King collaboration. Files point to a Pennywise skin, complete with a red balloon glider and a sinister dancing emote.
- Classic Slashers: Rumors suggest a brand-new Leatherface skin is coming, alongside a refreshed variant of Michael Myers.
- Anime Crossovers: Whispers of a Tokyo Ghoul bundle have been circulating on social media, bringing highly requested anime aesthetics to the shop.
- Original Outfits: Epic is updating its own roster too. Expect a skeletal version of Peely called Bone-Chilled Peely, alongside a shadowy remix of Midas.
These skins will likely start hitting the Item Shop during the first week of the event. Be ready to spend those V-Bucks.
A Haunted Island Map Makeover
You can’t have a proper Fortnitemares without some serious map changes. The island is going to look very different once the update drops. A thick, persistent fog will roll across the entire map, reducing visibility and making long-range sniper fights incredibly tense.
But the biggest change is happening right in the center of the map. The current central point of interest is rumored to be swallowed by a massive, purple-glowing swamp. This new area, tentatively named Grave Graveyard, will feature crumbling stone crypts, loot-filled mausoleums, and jump-scare zombies that pop out of the ground when you get too close.

We also expect to see smaller, festive decorations scattered across every major town. Expect jack-o’-lanterns, thick cobwebs, and eerie ambient noises playing inside houses. Some leaks even suggest the river water will turn a deep, murky red.
Classic Weapons Return and New Gear
Epic is digging into the vault to bring back some fan-favorite items. The Pumpkin Launcher is a guarantee at this point. It isn’t Fortnitemares without that classic, maniacal laugh echoing across the battlefield. Witch Brooms are also expected to return, giving players an easy way to fly across the map and escape tight spots.
But we’re also getting brand-new tools. One leak mentions a Vampire Stake Shotgun. This weapon reportedly does extra damage to the monsters roaming the map and heals the player for a small portion of the damage dealt. There’s also talk of a Ghost Grenade. It temporarily turns you invisible and silent, though you cannot shoot while using it. It sounds like the perfect tool for sneaking up on unsuspecting squads.
The Rumored Live Finale
This is where things get really wild. Fortnite has skipped large-scale live events for some recent seasons, but 2026 is looking to break that trend. Insider reports suggest that this year’s event will culminate in a massive live finale.
According to code found in the latest test builds, a giant shadow portal will open in the sky above the island. During the finale, players will reportedly have to band together to fight a colossal raid boss. Speculation points to the return of the Cube Queen or a brand-new cosmic horror entity. This won’t just be a cutscene. It’ll be an active, chaotic battle where players use upgraded weapons and vehicles to take down the beast before it destroys the island, setting up the story for the next season.
When Does It Start?
While Epic Games hasn’t made an official announcement, Fortnitemares historically starts in mid-October. We expect the 2026 event to launch around Tuesday, October 13, 2026. The event will likely run until early November, giving players plenty of time to grind out the free rewards and finish their spooky challenges.
