Fortnite Adds Disney Villains Skins Ahead of Halloween
Disney’s Most Famous Bad Guys Land on the Island
Epic Games isn’t waiting for late October to start the spooky season. In a surprise update, Fortnite has launched a dedicated ‘Disney Villains’ section in its in-game Item Shop. The release brings some of cinema’s most legendary antagonists to the battle royale arena just in time for the Halloween rush.
For the first time, players can drop from the Battle Bus as classic animated evildoers. The initial wave features a trio of iconic characters: Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty, Captain Hook from Peter Pan, and Cruella de Vil from 101 Dalmatians. Each character comes with custom cosmetics that stay faithful to their classic mid-century animation designs, adapted seamlessly into Fortnite’s signature art style.
A Look at the Cosmetics and Gear
The attention to detail in these skins is already winning over fans. Maleficent comes with a reactive back bling featuring her pet raven, Diablo, and her harvesting tool is her signature magic staff. Players can also purchase a glider styled after her iconic dragon form.
Captain Hook looks appropriately theatrical. He sports his grand red coat and feathered hat. Naturally, his left hand is replaced by his trademark sharp hook. His harvesting tool is his elegant rapier, and he comes with a miniature Jolly Roger back bling. Cruella de Vil rounds out the group. She brings her dramatic fur coat, wild two-tone hair, and a classy cane that doubles as a pickaxe.
- Maleficent Bundle: Includes the Maleficent skin, Diablo back bling, Dragon’s Flame glider, and her magic staff pickaxe.
- Captain Hook Bundle: Features the Captain Hook outfit, Jolly Roger back bling, and his rapier harvesting tool.
- Cruella de Vil Bundle: Contains the Cruella skin, her signature cane pickaxe, and a high-fashion back bling.
These cosmetic items are sold both individually and in discounted bundles, giving players flexibility in how they spend their V-Bucks.

The Fruit of a Multi-Billion Dollar Partnership
This drop is more than just a fun Halloween event. It is a direct result of Disney’s massive $1.5 billion investment in Epic Games. Announced as a multi-year project, the partnership aims to build an entirely new ‘persistent universe’ adjacent to Fortnite. While that massive digital world is still in development, crossovers like this show how quickly the two companies are integrating their properties.
In the past, Fortnite’s Disney collaborations were mostly limited to Marvel superheroes and Star Wars characters. Bringing in classic animated villains marks a major shift. It opens the door for other beloved Disney animation properties to make their way onto the island in future updates.
The Internet Reacts to the Villains
Social media has already exploded with clips of the new characters. There is a distinct, hilarious irony in seeing Maleficent—the self-proclaimed Mistress of All Evil—doing modern pop emotes or wielding a rocket launcher. ‘Seeing Captain Hook hit a griddy after a team wipe is something I never knew I needed,’ one player wrote on Reddit.
It is weird. It is chaotic. But that is exactly what makes Fortnite work. The game has built its entire identity on these impossible mashups. Now, players can stage battles between Maleficent and Darth Vader, or Captain Hook and Peter Griffin.
The Disney Villains shop section is expected to remain live through the Halloween season. If sales are as strong as early reactions suggest, players can likely expect even more classic Disney characters to invade the island very soon.
